Just a “Click” Away

By Rose S. Prinzi

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation continues to keep up with the technology that graduating high school students are accustomed to in their fast-paced world.  Although CRCF strives to stay current with technology, we are continually mindful of making the scholarship application process simple and efficient.

We have kept this in mind with the most recent enhancements.  Students can now go online to apply for many scholarships available through CRCF. The application can be completed at the time and location that is convenient for the student.

Did you know that the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation is the leading source for scholarships in the area? In 2007, the Foundation provided financial assistance to over 800 students totaling over $700,000. As we look to 2008, the Foundation will have over $800,000 available to distribute to local students.

Students do not have to apply for each scholarship independently. As a result of a very efficient process, graduating high school students need only to submit one online application with the supporting paperwork to CRCF by June 1, 2008.

This general scholarship process for high school seniors is a great opportunity for any graduating student from a Chautauqua County High School.   All of the necessary instructions for the new process can be found on the CRCF website at www.crcfonline.org.

At the website, click on the “Scholarships” link.  The site will guide students through the process.  If students do not have access to a home computer, online applications can be completed at their high school guidance office or their school or public library -  wherever
the student can access online capabilities.

After an online application has been submitted, the CRCF staff will begin a review process and present all applications to the scholarship committees in the fall of the year. Once the committees have reviewed the applications, through a completely independent process, awards will be recommended to the Board of Directors of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

In November, all applicants will be notified of the results. Scholarship awards will be available in January for the spring semester.

If there are questions about the online process, please contact Lisa Lynde, Program Officer, at 661-3394 or llynde@crcfonline.org. Keep in mind, the completed online application and supporting documentation must be received by the June 1st deadline.

Take advantage of this great opportunity that only comes once a year!
