A “Driving” Force

By Rose S. Prinzi

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation is preparing for the 11th Annual Community Foundation Golf Tournament.  This year’s tournament will take place at Moon Brook Country Club on Monday, May 19th.  The tournament will begin at 11:30 AM with a shotgun start.

As with each of the past Chautauqua Region Community Foundation Golf Tournament, it is all about helping the community. Last year the Community Foundation raised over $19,000 from the golf tournament, bringing the total funds raised since the tournament’s inception to over $121,000. Over the years, these monies have all been earmarked to CRCF’s Community Service Funds, which are the main source of discretionary funding for the Foundation.  The funds allow the Foundation to focus on the mission of enriching the quality of life in the Chautauqua Region.

As the Community Foundation strives to assist with community initiatives, the discretionary funds raised by the golf tournament give the Foundation the opportunity to move important projects forward. These funds give the Foundation the much needed flexibility to redirect resources as needs are identified.
While player participation is a key aspect of this tournament, so are the sponsors.

It is sponsor support that largely makes this event possible and successful. The sponsor support, not only allows us to provide some great perks, such as prizes and giveaways, but is the foremost financial boost to our Community Service grant making.

If you are interested in playing in the tournament or even sponsoring, there is still plenty of time to do so. All you need to do is call the Community Foundation office at 661-3390. If you are a player and wish to play alone, play with a partner, or even bring your own foursome, just let us know, we can accommodate you. Also, if your organization wishes to sponsor, there are many different levels of support you can provide, which will all serve to benefit the community.

There are many reasons why people play golf. The competition, to have some laughs with friends, or to enjoy a warm, sunny day communing with the peaceful outdoors are just a few. Golf analogy aside, the Golf Tournament really can give you all these things while “driving” forward the good works of the Community Foundation.
So get out the golf gear, polish up those clubs, and get ready for a fun day with the Community Foundation! We look forward to your participation…and the community looks forward to benefiting from this good cause.
