There are many reasons people play golf: For the competition, to have some laughs with friends, or to enjoy a warm, sunny day communing with the peaceful outdoors. Well, the Community Foundation Golf Tournament can give you all these things, while providing one more reason …every dollar earned from the community’s participation is one more dollar given back to the needs of the community.
This year’s tournament will take place at Moon Brook Country Club on Monday, May 21st. The tournament will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. As with every Foundation Golf Tournament, it is all about helping community. However, the great thing is that, while helping the community, players can also enjoy other perks that go along with their participation. Some of these perks include: Great prizes for the best finishing teams, an outstanding dinner catered by Moon Brook, and a customized favor item, to name a few. To top it all off, players enjoy a day of relaxation away from the office, while having some fun with friends.
The great participation from both sponsors and players, each year, has allowed this tournament to be an ongoing success. Last year, the Community Foundation raised nearly $15,000 from the Golf Tournament, bringing the total funds raised since the tournament’s inception nine years ago to nearly $100,000. Over the years, these monies have all been donated to CRCF’s Community Service Funds, which are the main source of discretionary funding for Foundation grantmaking. To simplify, when a need arises in the community, the Foundation Board of Directors can use these funds, at their discretion, to direct assets toward those needs. This gives the Foundation a great deal of flexibility as needs change over time. So every dollar donated at the Foundation’s Golf Tournament truly benefits the entire community and especially where there is the most need.
While player participation is a key aspect of this tournament, so are the sponsors. It is sponsor support that largely makes this event possible, no matter what level an organization is sponsoring at. Having said that, there are four key organizations that have not only pledged support to the CRCF Golf Tournament but also for every Foundation event year-round, and these organizations are: Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C./Vineyard Group, LLC; Courier Capital Corporation; Acu-Rite Companies; and Jamestown Savings Bank. The Foundation Board and staff thank these four organizations and all the event sponsors.
If you are interested in playing in the tournament or even sponsoring, there is still plenty of time to do so. All you need to do is call the Community Foundation office at 661-3390. If you are a player and wish to play alone, play with a partner, or even bring your own foursome, just let us know, we can accommodate you. Also, if your organization wishes to sponsor, there are many different levels of support you can provide, which will all serve to benefit the community.
So get out the golf gear, polish up those clubs, and get ready for a fun day with the Community Foundation! We look forward to your participation…and the community looks forward to benefiting from this good cause.
