The Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. is proud to announce that it has established the Nancy M. Elofson Memorial Adult Day Care Fund with the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. The fund was established as a tribute to Mrs. Elofson for her long time support for the agency and seniors in the community. The Nancy M. Elofson Memorial Adult Day Care Fund will provide financial assistance for older adults with Alzheimer's Disease and other memory loss that are in need of attending the Present Center.

The Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, located at 15 W. Third Street, Jamestown, has been a fixture of the community since 1980, and was organized to preserve and honor Chautauqua County's sports celebrities. At their July, 2011 board meeting, the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors agreed that establishing a Non-Endowment Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation was the best way to gather the necessary funds to use towards expansion.

Laughter is often said to be the best medicine, and the Lucy-Desi Center for Comedy is endeavoring to make sure Jamestown is known worldwide as the destination for laughter through comedy. As part of their most recent board meeting, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation's Board of Directors agreed unanimously to provide the Lucy-Desi Center for Comedy with $30,000 to be used towards the center's "Legacy of Laughter." The four-pillar plan was designed to bring the mission of the center back to life in the form of tangible, sustainable programming and activities.

The John Edward McLaughlin Family Fund is designed to provide financial assistance to religious and non-religious charitable activities in the Randolph area. This past May, a committee made their recommendations on which groups should receive funds in 2011. Recently, Community Foundation Executive Director Randy Sweeney and Community Foundation Program Officer Lisa Lynde traveled to Randolph present those organizations with their awards.

In the United States, one in three people will have Type 2 diabetes by 2050 if current trends continue. A donation to the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown was recently made from the Chi Sigma Chi Remembrance Fund, which is administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. The fund was established by the alumni of the Chi Sigma Chi Fraternity which existed at Jamestown High School from 1926 to 1975.
