Do you remember Roseland Park? Do you remember the music from the skate shack, or the laughter of children hurrying to put on their skates? Mike Miller does. Rudy Miller, Mike’s dad, champion racer and barrel jumper, skated at Roseland. So did Orrie Hoover, famous for his stilts skating and fire hoop-jumping. The speed skating champions of the 1930s and 1940s, Bob Hanson, John Alm, T.G. Wilson, and Beatrice Freed, spent their youth at Roseland, too...

In recent months, our world has turned to much that is negative. The media has brought into our homes every detail of the downturn in the economy. That has led to the ripple effect of home foreclosures and job loss. These elements have resulted in a feeling of anticipation, anxiety, and fear. It is in times such as these that we need to stop, reflect, and be thankful for all we do have in this great land...

Throughout the year and for many years, 30 years to be precise,  the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation has consistently provided area organizations monetary support on special projects and needs. It is like Christmas all year long!  The Foundation has monthly Field of Interest grants, yearly Community Service grants, scholarships and designated funds which receive annual support as deemed by the donors…

We salute the generous and dedicated residents of the Chautauqua Region.  They are generous and dedicated people and we applaud them. The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’s success can attest to that.  The people of our area donate to the Foundation with a desire and passion we can be proud of. The legacy of giving is alive and well in the Chautauqua Region...
