The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation is delighted to be a participant in the United Senior Council’s “Organizing Your Life Files” Seminar on Wednesday, October 15^th, 9:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M., at the Park United Methodist Church in Sinclairville.  

                                   

“Paperless society?”   Ironically, it seems as though we have more and more paper to deal with.  What should we do with it?  When should we purge our files?  What should we keep? Cynthia Peterson, Esq., will address these issues in her presentation entitled “Tame the Paper Tiger:  Learn What to Save, Why and How to File It, Which to Pitch and When to Ditch It!”

 

This seminar is open to the public. Registration is required. The deadline for registration is October 10^th and can be made by calling Connie Whitman at 763-1012. Lunch is included in the nominal fee of $5.00.    

 

Other speakers include: Terry Lind, Lind Funeral Home; June Diethrick, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation; Diane Hannum, Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation; Cara Seekings, Chautauqua County Health Network.

 

Ms. Seekings will address how, through advanced care planning, one may live his/her life to the fullest. She will have us thinking about the process of preparing a Health Care Proxy form. The discussion will include a segment on health care directives and appointing a health care agent to speak for us when we are unable to communicate our desires.

 

 Mrs. Diethrick and Mrs. Hannum will offer suggestions on how the local community foundations could help you play a role in leaving a legacy for future generations.  For many of us, there is a compelling need to make a difference – to leave a lasting impact on the people dearest to us and the world in which we live. Mrs. Diethrick and Mrs. Hannum will begin your process of pondering the legacy you will leave.

 

Mr. Lind will talk about how making pre-arranged funeral plans. Pre-planning provides peace of mind for everyone involved. A carefully pre-planned service can be the most comforting to your family, as it spares them from having to face decisions that can be both emotionally and financially difficult at the time of death. It can give them lasting peace of mind to know that they have acted in accordance with your wishes.

 

The United Senior Council was organized on October 23, 1978 to provide, promote, maintain and support a program providing friendship, cultural achievements, recreational and instructional activities for all people 50 years or older. Its intent is to bring together all senior citizen organizations and other interested groups interested in developing needed programs for the benefit of the senior citizens of Chautauqua County. Additionally, the United Senior Council provides information, a forum of understanding and an avenue for action pertaining to all matters of concern to senior citizens.
