Aid for Aspiring Musicians

Music Scholarship applications are now being accepted by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.  Eight special music scholarship funds, administered by the Foundation, provide financial assistance to those seeking music instruction or a career in music. Scholarships are available for musicians in kindergarten through graduate school.  Note deadline dates vary per fund.

Helga Hulse Mozart Club Music Scholarship Fund:
Criteria: To assists students from Chautauqua County with the costs of music instruction. Applicants must show promise, as well as academic and vocational achievement. Students of any age are eligible for this scholarship. Deadline for application: April 20th.

R. Richard Corbin Memorial Fund: 
Criteria:  To assist students from Jamestown, Falconer, Frewsburg Bemus Point and South western School Districts with the cost of instruction in music with an emphasis in piano, organ, musical theatre or music education. Deadline for application: April 20th.

Sarita Hopkins Weeks Excellence in Music Fund:
Criteria: To assist students who have demonstrated excellence in the area of piano music. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Falconer, Frewsburg, Maple Grove, Jamestown, and Southwestern High Schools. Deadline for application: April 20th.      

Elizabeth Warner Marvin Music Scholarship Fund:
Criteria:  To assist students pursuing education and training in music. Applicants must reside in the Jamestown School District and be a student in grades K-11. Deadline for application: April 27th.

Emily Harrington Crane and Ruth E. Munson Music Scholarship Fund:
Criteria:  To assist an undergraduate music major attending an accredited four-year school. Applicants for this scholarship must have graduated from a Chautauqua County High School. Deadline for application: May 1st.

Lory T. Ventura Music Education Scholarship: 
Criteria:  To assist a Jamestown High School graduate majoring in music education.  Deadline for application: May 1st.

Rob Buck Memorial Music Scholarship Fund:
Criteria:  To assist an undergraduate attending an accredited four-year school. Applicants must be a Chautauqua County High School or Eisenhower High School graduate. Deadline for application: May 1st.   

Pauline N. MarLett Memorial Scholarship Fund: 
Criteria: To assist a Jamestown High School graduate attending an accredited four-year music school.  Preference is given to a Jamestown graduating High School senior attending the SUNY Fredonia School of Music. Deadline for application: May 1st. 

Requirements for the above scholarships vary.  To obtain information on each of these scholarships go to the Community Foundation's website at www.crcfonline.org.  On the top of the home page you will find the tab "We Provide." Scroll to "Scholarships" and click on "Special Scholarship Applications." A listing of all the special scholarships, along with the application form, can be found here.  Scholarship applications are also available by stopping at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation office at 418 Spring Street, Jamestown.
