This year will commemorate the 20th anniversary of “Points of Light,” a national service movement that was initiated to inspire, equip and mobilize people to take action that changes the world. We, in the Chautauqua Region, have our own version of the Points of Light philosophy. It is not necessarily considered a movement; but it serves to inspire, equip and mobilize people not only to take action but also help themselves...
Through our many scholarship and grants programs, the Foundation consistently provides financial support to individual students and organizations. Students are empowered to pursue their educational goals through our scholarship program, and not-for-profit organizations are awarded grants through our Community Service and Field of Interest Grants to meet the demands of serving the public. Together, we are enriching the quality of life in the Chautauqua Region.
But how does the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation accomplish this overwhelming task of financially assisting thousands of students and organizations annually? One way is through the generous donations of our Legacy Society Members.
Legacy Society Members are those individuals who have established a bequest in their wills to the Foundation. For many of us, there is a compelling need to make a difference to leave a lasting impact on the people most dear to us and the world in which we live. The search for significance and desire to plan for the future leads many to ponder their legacy. For those desiring to leave a legacy, a bequest in one’s will is perhaps the easiest and most tangible way to have a lasting impact on our community
A charitable bequest to the Community Foundation enables you to further the good work of an organization that you support long after you are gone.
Making a planned gift now or in the future through your will qualifies you for membership to our Legacy Society. Notifying the Foundation of your bequest establishes you as a Legacy Society Member. You may choose to remain anonymous; however, your participation in the Legacy Society can be an inspirational experience and may encourage others to participate.
In addition, the Legacy Society provides the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation a way for the Foundation to recognize and thank donors during their lifetimes for their generous donations, foresight and commitment to the Chautauqua Region.
Be a part of the Points of Light philosophy in our Region and have your legacy shine for generations to come; become a member of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’ Legacy Society by including the Foundation in your will.
