 Happy Mother’s Day!

As you try to figure out what gift to give your mom or where to take her for brunch on this day, take a moment to reflect on this special woman’s role in your life. It may be your birth mom, your foster-mom, a guardian or a special friend.  It could be any individual who may have had an influence in your life who you consider to be your “mom.”

Mothers hold a special place in their children’s hearts.  They are usually the individuals who wipe away the tears and fix the cuts and bruises.  They are the ones who are thrilled at your first step or word as a baby and show concern over your first date.  They are there to support you every step of the way into adulthood. Their love is unconditional.

Over the past 30 years, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation has had the honor of assisting families in paying tribute to those women who have had an influence in their children’s lives.  The Foundation administers several funds that were established in the name of the family matriarch. Such funds include The Jane Fagerstrom Fund, Barbara Mae Gustafson & Bridget Mary Drew (B&B) Scholarship, and Barbara B. Quackenbush Scholarship Fund.

These funds reflect a passion or interest these women held during their lifetime.  In their memory, their children have established an endowment fund that created a legacy to live on in their mother’s name.

For those of you whose mother has passed and you no longer linger at the store trying to figure out what to get for her, you may want to consider a gift to the Community Foundation.  Your gift will enable the memory of your mother to live on.  Your mom invested much time and love in you as you were growing up. Now it is your turn to make an investment in her name.

Select a passion or interest of your mom’s.  We have many funds that support all areas of interest from animal care and conservation to children’s health and senior citizens’ programs.  We have just about any fund that can match your mother’s interest. Wouldn’t she be delighted to think that your contribution, given in her name, enabled an organization to preserve its mission?

If you are interested in making a gift in honor or in memory of your mother, you have several options.  You can stop by our office, mail in a check or visit our website at www.crcfonline.org.  Just click on the big yellow star on the right of our home page.  It will take you directly to the list of funds and their descriptions that we administer at the Foundation.

Happy Mother's Day!
