Chautauqua Region Community Foundation Announces New Staff Member
Friday, December 03, 2010
Chautauqua Region Community Foundation Executive Director Randall Sweeney is pleased to announce the addition of Joel Keefer as the organization's new Community Relations Officer. Keefer officially began his work with the Community Foundation on December 1, 2010.
"It is my pleasure to announce that Joel Keefer has been named as our new Community Relations Officer", Sweeney stated. "Joel has an extensive media and public relations background and will be a great asset to our organization. The Foundation has a long list of messages that need to be shared with the Chautauqua region. I am confident that Joel will help us accomplish this task."
Most recently, Keefer had served as the Executive Assistant to Chautauqua County Executive Gregory J. Edwards and as an employee with the Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau.
Prior to that, Keefer worked as Co-News Director with Media One Group LLC of Jamestown, and had served exclusively as News Director for WKSN, WHUG and WQFX. Keefer had also served as a Chautauqua Correspondent for The Buffalo News.
"I am honored to have been given the opportunity to work with such a reputable and charitable organization as the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation," Keefer said. "I look forward to providing the region with information concerning all of the great programs the Community Foundation has to offer."
A graduate of Forestville High School in 1993, and SUNY Fredonia in 1998, Keefer majored in Communications and minored in History. During his years at Fredonia, he worked for both on-campus radio stations; WCVF and WDVL.
Keefer has also donated his time working with the Built Environment Team/Active Communities Coalition of Chautauqua County, the Chautauqua Alcohol and Substance Abuse Council's Underage Drinking Task Force, as well as the Employee Assistance Program with Chautauqua County.
Keefer currently resides in Jamestown with his wife Jessica and son Aiden.
