Community Foundation Fund Established by Chi Sigma Chi Benefits Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown
Friday, May 13, 2011

A donation to the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown was recently made from the Chi Sigma Chi Remembrance Fund, which is administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

The fund was established by the alumni of the Chi Sigma Chi Fraternity which existed at Jamestown High School from 1926 to 1975.

Over many years, the Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown has been a consistent resource, providing many constructive development opportunities to the youth of the community. Chi Sigma Chi is pleased to be able to direct this contribution to such a worthwhile organization.

During the era of high school fraternities, the Boys Club (as it was called then) was supportive of inter-fraternity activities. Regularly scheduled league basketball games were played in the Boys Club gym. A meeting room was made available, and league schedules and activity calendars were established at sessions held in that meeting room.

The Hourglass Club is the name given to the alumni association of Chi Sigma Chi, and it serves to sponsor alumni activities. For the past 8 years, a reunion picnic brought alumni together, and the fund is a product of these gatherings.
