Chautauqua Lake Association Benefits from Funding Provided by the Community Foundation
Monday, July 18, 2011

Harvesting the weeds that choke areas of Chautauqua Lake has been an effort undertaken by the Chautauqua Lake Association for many years now. The CLA's mission is, "to provide effective and efficient lake maintenance services for the benefit of all Chautauqua Lake users."

The Chautauqua Lake Association is actually called the "Steward of the Lake", and residents living along the shore have become quite familiar with the CLA's equipment out on the lake taking on a task that is time-consuming and labor-intensive.

"At their May meeting, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation Board of Directors made the decision to provide the CLA with $20,000 in an outright grant, and to encourage municipalities that benefit from Chautauqua Lake to provide $10,000 in matching funds, for a total potential of $30,000." said Community Foundation Executive Director Randy Sweeney. "That match has been made, and so the Foundation is pleased to provide the CLA with the full $30,000 towards lake maintenance. Chautauqua Lake is such a valuable resource for the region, and helping the CLA maintain this magnificent body of water is something we are proud to do."

The Chautauqua Lake Association is committed to protecting and improving lake quality for everyone's enjoyment. For more information on the group, please visit www.chautauqualake.org.
