First Herbert I.F. and Bonnelyn“Anne” Carlson

Nat Carlson, Bonnie Swanson and Birgit Hanson and their families established the Herbert I.F. and Bonnelyn “Anne” Carlson Service Scholarship at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. The Fund was set up in April of this year to assist agraduating high school senior, who donates their time and talent to one of the following churches;  Hillcrest Baptist Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Zion Covenant Church or Sugar Grove Mission Covenant Church.  Emily Smith is the first ever recipient of the scholarship. Emily remains active in the Zion Covenant Church youth group, where she volunteers at Tanglewood Manor, participates in Community Helping hands, teaches first graders at Vacation Bible School, and travels on mission trips. The Southwestern High School graduate currently attends St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY and is majoring in Elementary Education.
