Lions Club of Jamestown Supports Veterans Memorial
Tuesday, December 11, 2012

For the past 90 years, the Lions Club of Jamestown has served our community by supporting visually impaired
individuals. Today, the Club reaches out to a variety of organizations and individuals in need and offers their help. On December 4, the Club continued to help the community by making a donation to the Veterans Memorial Commission Relocation Fund.

Chuck Telford, Lions Club secretary, presented Ron Cotten, Veterans Memorial Commission chairman, with a check for $300. The money was allocated from the Dr. John and Sue Nelson Memorial Fund, which was established by the Lions Club to honor The Nelsons who both served as past presidents during their lifetimes.

Mary Gabalski, Lions Club president, told The Post-Journal, “We established the fund because John and Sue Nelson were such a big part of the Lions Club and we wanted something, not only to keep their memory alive, but to keep alive what we knew they would do if they were here with us.”

The purpose of the fund is to benefit projects and initiatives supported by the Lions Club of Jamestown.
