Group Honoring Veterans Looks to Community Foundation as Home of New Fund

Paying tribute to the men and women who have served in our military is something we can all stand behind. That is why the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation has agreed to host a new fund that will collect monies raised to erect an Honor Roll for Clymer, French Creek, and Mina veterans. By recording the names of the men and women from their community who have participated in the military, the Clymer, French Creek, and Mina Honor Roll for Veterans Committee hopes to recognize their contributions to the region and the nation.

The fellowships and educational endeavors being driven by Mr. Beiter & Mr. Karb have received early support from a $5,000 Community Service grant awarded through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation (CRCF). CRCF is a nonprofit, community corporation created by and for the people of Chautauqua County. They assist donors in making a positive impact on their community by establishing a "bridge" between the donor and charitable activities. Inner Workings of Community Foundation’s Scholarship Process Explained

It is hard to imagine that 800 Chautauqua County high school and college students have just recently submitted their application materials to the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation in order to receive scholarship assistance. While the process may be over for the students, it has only just begun for the Community Foundation. Over the next few months, staff will sort applications, committees will meet, and awards will be made. The entire process is quite amazing.

Celtic music, food, and fun will be in abundance this weekend as the 6th Annual Jamestown Regional Celtic Festival comes to Mayville Lakeside Park. As part of the festivities, the 96th Highlanders Pipes & Drums will entertain the gathered crowd. Through a recently approved Community Service Grant, the 96th Highlanders Pipes & Drums were able to promote the Celtic Festival through print ads and commercials on local TV and radio stations.

The Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. is proud to announce that it has established the Nancy M. Elofson Memorial Adult Day Care Fund with the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. The fund was established as a tribute to Mrs. Elofson for her long time support for the agency and seniors in the community. The Nancy M. Elofson Memorial Adult Day Care Fund will provide financial assistance for older adults with Alzheimer's Disease and other memory loss that are in need of attending the Present Center.

The Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, located at 15 W. Third Street, Jamestown, has been a fixture of the community since 1980, and was organized to preserve and honor Chautauqua County's sports celebrities. At their July, 2011 board meeting, the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors agreed that establishing a Non-Endowment Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation was the best way to gather the necessary funds to use towards expansion.
