Community Service Grants

This grant type is unrestricted in nature - meaning that the funds for this cycle may be used to benefit a wide variety of charitable projects or needs. This is by far the most flexible and powerful tool available to the Foundation to address the needs of the community.

Karl Peterson & Lynn Foundation Fund Grants

The Community Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the Lynn Foundation Fund.   With this additional support, the Lynn Foundation is helping to forever provide financial assistance to religious and non-religious charitable activities within our area.

The Karl Peterson Funds are component funds of the Community Foundation. Peterson was a private foundation for many years that merged with the Community Foundation in 1993. General grant policy is identical to the original Peterson Foundation policy adopted in 1952 and reads as follows:

"...is created for the benefit of such religious, educational, charitable, and scientific purposes as, in the judgment of the (committee) shall be in furtherance of the public welfare and tend to assist, encourage and promote the well-doing or well-being of mankind or of the inhabitants of any community."

Applicants should consider the following: The Peterson committee is keenly interested in unique or fledgling projects not typically funded by other Jamestown foundations. Most of the Peterson awards are for under $1,000.

Peterson and Lynn Fund grant applications will be accepted at the Community Foundation office between January 1st and January 31st.  Mailed applications must be postmarked no later than January 31st and must arrive at the Foundation office within one week of the deadline.  All applications will be considered by the Peterson Grant Committee and the Lynn Grant Committee.

Field of Interest Grants

This type of grant makes awards based on matching requests with the purposes of the funds from which the grant monies originate. For example, a request for funds to buy books for a library could match a fund at the Foundation founded to aid area libraries. Field of Interest Grants are considered on a monthly basis.
