Agnes A. Woodard

Agnes A. Woodard, 86, of Falconer, passed away Friday (Dec. 8, 2017) in Lutheran Home & Rehabilitation Center.

A lifelong area resident. she was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Falconer, the daughter of the late Louis and Anne Natale Rumiano.

Agnes was a 1949 graduate of Falconer High School, and in earlier years, was employed by National Worsted Mills and Ev-Lee Candy & Gifts. She was employed by the former Casual Shop in Falconer for over 20 years.

She was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. Agnes was a life member of the former Southside PTA and served as a Girl Scout leader and board member of Chautauqua Area Girl Scouts.

Agnes enjoyed embroidering table cloths and pillow cases and was an avid reader. She faithfully kept a journal since 1990.

Surviving are two daughters: Rose Anne Woodard (Craig Thompson) of Coeymans Hollow, N.Y., and Suzanne (Edward) O’Connor of Canandaigua, N.Y.; a son, Herbert (Alice) Woodard of Frewsburg; five grandchildren: Robert (Sara) Thompson of Pittsburgh, Pa., Russell Thompson and Royce Thompson, both of New Paltz, N.Y., Abigail (Greg) Tedone of Rochester, N.Y., and Jamie (Russell) Crouse of Troy, N.Y.; two great grandchildren: Scarlet and Truman Crouse; a brother, Louis F. Rumiano of Jamestown; and a sister, Mary Ann Rumiano of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert O. Woodard, whom she married July 11, 1953, in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church, and who died May 23, 2009; and a daughter, Roberta E. Joanethis, who died May 26, 2006.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, pastor of the church, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, town of Ellicott.

Friends will be received by the family from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Altar and Rosary Society of OLL will conduct a rosary service at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to the Falconer Public Library, 101 W. Main St., Falconer, NY 14733 or to the Falconer Central School Scholarship Fund, c/o Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St., Jamestown, NY 14701.

Online condolences may be left at Falconer Funeral Home.
