Charles T. Hall, Esq. of Jamestown, New York, was presented with the 2002 John D. Hamilton Community Service Award at a recognition dinner held at the Chautauqua Institution’s Athenaeum Hotel on Thursday, September 12. The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation presents the award annually to one individual in recognition of their dedication, leadership and support in furthering community spirit and enhancing the quality of life in the Chautauqua Region.
Charles, who currently serves on the board of the Gebbie Foundation as president, has been involved with a number of organizations in the community, giving generously of his time to promote the enrichment of Jamestown and the surrounding areas.
Organizations that he has been involved with include the United Way, the Jamestown Boys Club, Holy Family Catholic School and SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church. As a board member and current president of the Gebbie Foundation, he has been deeply involved with the efforts to complete the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena in downtown Jamestown.

Charles, an attorney with Hall and Piazza, LLP, lives in the city of Jamestown. He and his wife, the late Doris O’Connor Hall, have four children and one grandchild.
The Community Service Award was first presented by the Community Foundation to John D. Hamilton in 1993. It was renamed the John D. Hamilton Community Service Award in 1994 in recognition of his high level of dedication to the community, which serves to this day as a benchmark for all to strive for.
