It is with great pride, that the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation presented Dr. Leonard E. Faulk Jr. with the 2015 John D. Hamilton Community Service Award. Dr. Faulk was honored during a reception at Moon Brook Country Club on September 10.
Born and raised in Jamestown, Dr. Faulk has dedicated a significant portion of his life to improving the quality of life for residents throughout the Chautauqua region.
A visionary, who has pieced together the needs of the community with viable solutions for sustainability, he has been an integral part of the blueprint for success in our area.
“(Len Faulk) has charisma, he has a skill in uniting and he has the ability to see the big picture,” Randy Sweeney, Community Foundation executive director said. “The theme of (the program) was centered around a blue print because we felt Len had and has a blue print for our community. It is very obvious (neighborhood work) is his passion.”
In addition to his dedication to neighborhood and housing initiatives, Dr. Faulk has also been involved in a number of other community organizations such as: SUNY Fredonia StartUP NY Advisory Committee, Jamestown Renaissance Corporation, City of Jamestown Strategic Planning and Partnership Commission, and Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corporation.
According to Dr. Faulk, “It really has been fun working with so many good people and to lend a hand to so many good things happening in this community. I am a bit awed by the strong continuity and leadership in this region.”
Every year, the John D. Hamilton Community Service Award is presented to an individual or group, who has demonstrated leadership, dedication and support in furthering community spirit.
