It is that time of year when golfers are polishing up their clubs, shining their golf shoes and pulling out their favorite golf shirts. The anticipation of getting out on those glorious fairways to enjoy a round of golf is in the air. Traditionally, the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation hosts the first tournament of the season. This year is no different.
On Monday, May 18th, the Foundation will officially kick-off the golf tournament season at Moon Brook Country Club with an 11:00 AM shotgun start. This will be our 12th annual golf tournament. The tournament’s purpose is to raise money for the Community Foundation’s Community Service Funds. Last year, this event raised over $16,000 to provide much needed assistance to a number of local charitable projects and organizations. The tournament has raised $137,000 since its inception. Proceeds from the golf tournament help the Community Foundation meet current and future needs of the area.
If you would like to join this spring tradition, there are a couple of ways to do so. First, you can sign-up as an individual player or you can hand-pick your own set of ringers to create your team. Secondly, while player participation is a key aspect of this tournament, so are the sponsors. You or your business can be a sponsor of the tournament. There are several levels of sponsorships offered.
You don’t need to be a golfer to support this event. No matter what level of participation, your support of the Foundation’s tournament is welcomed.
There are four major organizations that have pledged their year-round support to the CRCF. Their support includes major sponsorship of the golf tournament. The Board of Directors and staff would like to express their appreciation to: Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C. “BWB”; Vineyard Group, LLC; Courier Capital Corporation; and Jamestown Saving Bank.
In addition to BWB/Vineyard Group being a major sponsor, they have also teamed up with the Foundation to assist in the administration and details required to host a top notch tournament.
There is still plenty of time left to sign-up to play or to be a sponsor of the Community Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament. Just call Leslie at 489-2050 or go to www.crcfonline.org to download participation and sponsorship forms. There is no better way to kick-off the 2009 golf tournament season than by spending the day with the Community Foundation. See you on the golf course!
