1987 Axel W. Carlson Recipients
The Bellavias have received the Axel W. Carlson Award for their quiet devotion to helping others in the community. For many years Bill has used his talents as a barber to give his services to local orphans, nursing home residents, and others in need.
In addition, both Bill and Lucy have fed and cared for many residents of a local nursing home facility over the last three decades. Lucy has volunteered in many capacities for her church and taught in the church school for years.
Currently she is the lifeline of many shut-ins who wait for her daily telephone call. The strong religious belief of the Bellavias is evident in their lives through their many humanitarian efforts.
