Braw Caddie Clan Awards Scholarship to Jamestown High School Scholar Athlete

On June 12, the 2025 Stanley A. Weeks Braw Caddie Clan Award for Excellence was formally presented at Moonbrook Country Club.

The recipient, Conner Dean, distinguished himself academically by graduating third in his class at Jamestown High School. Mr. Dean also established multiple school and county swimming records during his notable athletic career with the Red and Green. He is slated to attend New York University, where he intends to pursue a major in architecture and continue his participation in competitive swimming. The award is administered through a partnership with the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, and this event celebrates the legacy of Stanley A. Weeks, the Braw Caddie Clan members, and the scholarship.

Dr. Zachary Eklum, a former award recipient and physician who recently returned to Jamestown, delivered the presentation address. Five past recipients, now considered honorary members of the Braw Caddie Clan, participated in the selection committee. Adding awardees to the BCC brotherhood sustains Stan’s vision for future generations.

During the ceremony, several members of the Braw Caddie Clan offered remarks on the organization's rich history, emphasizing Stanley A. Weeks' significant accomplishments as the founder, civic leader, and community philanthropist.

“We have an ultimate goal for the amount to award in 2030, and it looks like we will achieve it by awarding $2,500 for our 100th Anniversary,” said James Colby, Braw Caddie Clan member. “We thank our brothers who have responded to our letters by giving generously.”

The Braw Caddie Clan, founded in 1930, was deeply rooted in the Scottish Enlightenment. Core tenets of the Scottish tradition, such as education, human excellence, service to the community, and morality, were foundational to the Clan's ethos.

Stanley Weeks, the Clan's founder, fostered connections through correspondence, organized regular reunions, and maintained an updated history and directory of over 600 members. His dedication was evident in the extensive archives he kept, documenting the brothers' successes across diverse fields, including the arts, law, science, television and movies, education, politics, business, and industry. Weeks was known for extending light, generosity, and kindness to his family, friends, the Clan brothers, and the broader community.
