Community Invited to Welcome Chautauqua Institution President

Mark Johnson

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Chautauqua Institution, and Robert H. Jackson Center invite the community to a special evening welcoming Mark Johnson, Chautauqua Institution’s 19th president and a Chautauqua County native, on Tuesday, November 10, at the Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown.

The event will offer an opportunity for community members to meet Johnson, learn more about his career and hear about the connections that have shaped his relationship with the region he now serves in his new leadership role.

The evening will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a casual meet-and-greet reception featuring light refreshments and an opportunity for guests to visit with Johnson. At 5:30 p.m., Johnson will join local historian and interviewer Greg Peterson for a conversation in the Jackson Center’s Cappa Theatre. Their discussion will explore Johnson’s professional journey, his connections to Chautauqua County, and the experiences that have brought him to this new chapter at Chautauqua Institution.

“There’s something special about seeing someone with deep roots in our community return to help shape its future,” said Tory Irgang, executive director of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. “Mark brings a unique perspective to this role, and we’re excited to welcome him, hear his story, and celebrate the connections that make this region such a remarkable place.”

For the three organizations hosting the event, the gathering is an opportunity to celebrate the people, relationships and shared commitment to community that make the Chautauqua region special.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP by emailing mruth@crcfonline.org or by calling the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, at (716) 661-3390.
