Roland “Rollie” DiMaio

Roland “Rollie” DiMaio, 84, of Jamestown and New Port Richey, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, in New Port Richey while wintering in Florida.

A lifelong area resident, he was born Feb 6, 1934, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Alexander and Nina DiCarlo DiMaio.

For many years Roland was a furniture refinisher, operating Roland’s Refinishing. In earlier years, he had worked at the former Monitor Furniture Company and was a supervisor at Ethan Allen. In later years he worked for the Lynn Development Corporation.

He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and was known as a lifelong car enthusiast. He loved to buy and sell cars and enjoyed dancing and having fun with family and friends.

Surviving are his companion and caregiver, Sarah Frederes of Jamestown; two daughters: Cheryl DiMaio Parker and Allison DiMaio Owen both of California; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Guido, Frank and Aldio DiMaio; and five sisters: Delores Boutelle, Christine Beals, Josephine Zach, Elene Minchener and Hilda Mountain.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Michelle Reynolds Memorial Leukemia Fund, c/o Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St., Jamestown, NY 14701, or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road Jamestown, NY 14701.

You may leave words of condolence to Roland’s family at Lind Funeral Home.
