This time of year, there are a number of reasons to begin polishing your golf clubs, shining your golf shoes, and pulling out your favorite golf shirts. One reason might be due to the obvious warming of the weather. Another reason could be because you want to re-live some of your favorite moments from the 2006 Masters. But perhaps the number one reason to pull all your golf equipment out of the garage is because of the 9th Annual Community Foundation Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will take place at Moon Brook Country Club on Monday, May 22nd. The tournament will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. There is no better way to kick off the 2006 golf season than by spending the day with the Community Foundation.
The Community Foundation Golf Tournament is always well-received by those who participate. Any day that can be spent under the sun, on the green grass, and, hopefully, out of the sand, is a great day for anyone. But no matter what the conditions, those who participate in the tournament are always glad to spend a day with friend, not to mention the great food and prizes that are always available for tournament participants.
Because the tournament has been well-received, it has seen great success and support since its inception eight years ago. Averaging just over $10,000 in funds raised each year, the tournament has netted $85,000 in eight years. While this is certainly a figure to be proud, the true pride comes in knowing where these monies go. After each tournament, the monies are donated to the Foundation’s Community Service Funds. These are the only unrestricted funds the Foundation administers, and these funds allow the CRCF Board of Directors to use the monies where they are most needed in the community. On an annual basis, these funds are generally awarded through CRCF’s Community Service Grants process.
If you would like to become part of this spring tradition, there are a couple ways to do so. First is to sign-up to play in the tournament. You can sign up as an individual player and hand-pick your own set of ringers and create a foursome. Secondly, you or your business can sponsor the tournament. Again, you can take great pride in knowing that every dollar you provide through sponsorship will be directed back to the community through grant assistance. Additionally, sponsorships are entirely tax deductible, providing an additional benefit to your organization.
There are four organizations that have not only pledged their support to the Community Foundation Golf Tournament but also will support the Foundation year-long. These organizations are: Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C./Vineyard Group, LLC, Jamestown Savings Bank, Courier Capital Corporation, and Acu-Rite Companies. Very special thanks to all of these key sponsors!
There is still plenty of time left to sign-up for or sponsor the Community Foundation Golf Tournament. To do so, call 661-3390 or go to www.crcfonline.org to download participation forms. While we cannot promise the tournament to be “a tradition unlike any other,” we can guarantee many laughs and a lot of fun!
